CAMP FREDDY: Release Date Announced For Christmas Single
November 28, 2006CAMP FREDDY — the Los Angeles-based "jam" group featuring guitarists Dave Navarro (ex-JANE'S ADDICTION, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) and Billy Morrison (ex-THE CULT bassist, current CIRCUS DIABLO vocalist) alongside VELVET REVOLVER members Matt Sorum (drums) and Scott Weiland (vocals) — will release its Christmas single — a cover of SLADE's "Merry Christmas Everybody" — exclusively via iTunes on December 12. "The song features Scott and Donovan [Leitch, son of 1960s U.K. folk-rock icon Donovan] sharing the vocals in the verses, and the whole band on the choruses!!" Morrison writes on his web site. "It was loads of fun to record, and was always one of the best Christmas songs when I was a kid. I'm glad we decided to record it, and very glad that we managed to get it out and online as quickly as we did. So go ahead and download it on the 12th. At this rate, we'll be releasing the album track by track, over a period of about 18 months!!! Now wait a minute — there's an idea…" A video for the track will also be released the same day.
As previously reported, CAMP FREDDY will play a special charity show at The Avalon in Los Angeles on December 7. The show will be an Indie 103.1 FM event, and all proceeds will be donated to the Musicians Assistance Program/MusiCares. The show will be open to the public, and tickets will be on sale from the usual outlets.
CAMP FREDDY performed its cover of the CHEAP TRICK classic "Surrender" on NBC-TV's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on October 5. This was the band's first television appearance since "The Showbiz Show with David Spade" on Comedy Central in late June.
